ARUBATHMOOVAR THIRUPANI MANRAM
AN INTRODUCTION AND INTENTIONS

  • The “Thiru Thondar Thiru Thogai” rendered by Saint Sundaramurthy Nayanmar
  • The “Thiru Thondar Thiru Andhaadhi” rendered by Saint Nambi Aandar Nambi
  • The “Thiru Thondar Puranam” rendered by God Saint Sekkizhar

All the three Tamil works praise the greatness of the Sixty Three Nayanmars.

Purity as their path, Divinity derived from ardently praising and serving Siva - the Cosmic Dancer at Thillai Ambalam, the Nayanmars served the society for the masses to alleviate their sorrows. They became the beacon showing the path of righteousness and produced the gems in Tamil Literature “The Thirumurais”.

It is our primary duty to tread the path shown by the Saiva Saints. To bring out their glory for the world to know, is our primary work. To execute this task we have to build a temple for the Nayanmars at their places of birth exclusively. Organize for daily poojas for the Nayanmars as routine.

The great kings of yester years had felt the importance of the Nayanmars. Whilst they built massive temple for Siva in sprawling areas they made it a point to build temples for the Nayanmars also. Thereby not only did they seek the blessings of Siva but also the Saiva Saints.

The time machine while it ran has seen adversities destroying these temples for the Nayanmars. Some temples have escaped the vagaries of nature and have withstood the test of time. Some of the Nayanmar temples, what a pity to mention! have gone out of anybody’s notice and are wilting with time.

The golden age of the past created by Saiva Siddhanta and the great Tamil language going hand in hand. To bring back the Saga of the Golden Era ….. our pursuit began.

Impediments

The fragrance of fame spread all over in the eight directions of the universe and golden language Tamil as the life line, the Saiva Canons – The Thirumurais were created by the Nayanmars.

Selfless and dedicated was there devotion towards Siva. As the law sees everybody equal without preferences, so did the Nayanmars saw that devotion towards Lord Siva being the only pre requisite, they were truly secular.

Such is the greatness of the Nayanmars and their eternal devotion was reflected by the temples built for them. Now many of these temples are in a dilapidated state. Some of the temples have lost even the basic daily rituals and people have lost even a stray of belongingness for these temples. The places sanctified by the birth of the Nayanmars have people who are absolutely ignorant of any such greatness.

The temple area of the Nayanmars are completely covered by thorn bushes and shrubs, the temple walls have been ripped apart by the outgrown roots of banyan trees. Otherwise, plainly the temple area has been encroached by locals unmindful of any social cause and taking care of their own personal desires, becoming parasites of our society.

Even today there are thousands of people involved in social and religious activities. It is required for these kind of people with a noble thought to glimpse at the work involved for the Nayanmars. It is of utmost importance to resurrect the lost glory of the Nayanmars. What our ancestors had left for us the rich heritage of this land should be carried forward and handed down to our future generations. Our great mother tongue considered at par with our mother should be guarded like the pupil of our eyes.

There are, these days quite a few groups which sing the praise of the Nayanmars and chant the verses of the Thirumurais. These groups should evolve their thinking towards establishing temples for the Nayanmars and come under one umbrella for the noble cause. Thus this task can be easily achieved.

The intentions should not have any business motive nor for gathering name and fame or should there be any vested interest. The Thillai Dancer – Nataraja’s golden feet was revered by the Nayanmars. Similarly their golden feet should be revered by us. The thinking should be purely service minded.

There are quite a few establishments by way of Mutt and Aadheenams. These establishments are supposedly the torch bearers for the society. The responsible people in such establishment should extend their supporting hand and act as a guiding force.

Even the Government departments under the name of secularism may have difference of opinion about religious thoughts. They should take note that this cause is for the common man considering a society without caste, creed or racial boundaries and service for our Great Classical Language Tamil.

They should support this for the sake of Tamils who realized an enduring and honorable society for generations now!
